The Ten Faces of Innovation is a book about people, employees mainly, on any kind of organization. It guides us through 10 different roles they may take, that are big advantages in a company’s innovation process. The book was written by Tom Kelley, the general manager of IDEO, a multi-national and highly awarded design company. Through out the book, Tom bases his theories on observations he made and projects he participated with hundreds of different clients and employees.

A chapter is dedicated to each face of innovation, where it’s described its characteristics, the advantages it gives to your company and how can you foster its participation. The 10 roles are: anthropologist, experimenter, cross-pollinator, hurdler, collaborator, director, experience architect, set designer, storyteller and caregiver. You can find a short description of each one on the book’s website.

The book is addictive, due to all the little case studies the author tells, from his personal experience. And there’s no doubt that leading many projects on a company as important as IDEO, can surely lead to good stories and experiences. It gives you a taste of what it would be to work with such a charismatic team. And at the end of each chapter, you always get the feeling that a part in you wants to follow that role.
