Tips for Conference Bloggers

Conference blogging is becoming very common. It’s usual to see a couple of bloggers typing away at events, aiming to do a live coverage of the hole thing. They are great for those who could not go and a valuable resource for attendants to that weren’t able to remember some parts of the talks. This is also a hard activity, trying to summarize the key points of a talk, while listening the speaker and checking the slides. And above all, unlike journalists, livebloggers only attend conferences about subjects of their interest. So they also want to enjoy the breaks and do some socialization, not to stay and finish some articles.

Therefore, two experienced livebloggers, Bruno Giussani and Ethan Zuckerman, created a six-page document with tips for newcomers and distribute it for free. They give various advices, from where you should sit on the audience to what should articles mention and what homework should already prepare. The tips are very simple and direct. The PDF was beautifully illustrated by the Bread and Butter team.
