Some processing gems

Manifest

Recently I’ve found some interesting projects using the processing language. First is Manifest, a student project under the subject Generative Animation that a friend of mine told me about. With several similarities with the early levels of the video game (yet to come) Spore, Manifest is a simulation of simple life behaviors. Using some life forms, created by the user with combinations of strokes and lines, you can observe how some tend to follow others in what the author called a interests based intelligence. I found the graphics to be very appealing. Those were generated trough vectorial forms and shapes.

The other project is glee., a single-player game that caught my eye because it exemplifies some of the language possibilities, in this case music interpretation. The game objective is to lead the most pulsars possible to their nest, small creatures that are created by and respond to the different types of impulses given by the background music (of the player’s choice). The game is addictive and colorful, and the ability to have a different game according to the kind of music that’s playing adds some fun into it.
