The Blender Foundation announced the future production of another open movie this time called Peach. After the apparently successfully Elephants Dream, a dark style short film, the independent organization decided to start with a similar project but “This time it’ll be funny and furry! Really!”.

Elephants Dream was created during the two previous years using the Blender platform, an open source 3D content creation suite with modeling, animation and rendering capabilities, as well as a whole game engine with python scripting API. The movie was released with an open Creative Commons license and the DVD comes with all the production files. You can also download the movie, making of and other apparel here. From the sketches, it seems that Peach will be one great comedy film, keeping the quality from it’s precedent.

With the start of this new project, an Institute was created to host and support the production of open 3D movies. Blender Institute is the name and will have space for the staff, two productions teams and a small research and development team. All these efforts to create free and open pieces of art and entertainment should be praised and this is another prove of quality of Blender.
